ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Optical Properties of a New Sodium‐Cadmium Carbonate Na4Cd3(CO3)4(OH)2.

Abstract: Colorless block-shaped crystals of the title compound are hydrothermally synthesized from mixtures of CdCl 2, Na2CO3, and H2O (autoclave, 220 C, 5 d, 80% yield). Na4Cd3(CO3)4(OH)2 is characterized by single crystal XRD, UV/VIS diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and DFT calculations. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1/c with Z = 2.
