Abstract:A new low temperature approach to the highly symmetric cubic bixbyite‐type compounds Ln6MoO12‐δ (Ln: Tm—Lu) involves the combustion of an aqueous solution containing (NH4)6Mo7O24, Ln(NO3)3, and glycine as the fuel (pH 1, 400 °C, 4 min) and a final thermal oxidation of the as‐prepared powder in air (1200 °C, 10 h) including the rhombohedral to the cubic phase transition (space group Ia$\bar 3$, powder XRD).
