Chinese Time Trade-Off Values for EQ-5D Health States

Abstract: The study successfully developed Chinese utility values for EQ-5D-3L health states using the time trade-off method. It is the first attempt ever to develop a standardized instrument for quantifying quality-adjusted life-years in China.

“…Third, the mean values of the mild health states (i.e. 11221, 12112, and 21111) were lower than those of similar EQ-5D-3L states reported in previous studies OR odds ratio, CI confidence interval, N number of valuation tasks in which the health state was considered worse than death a Reference group is mainland Chinese b Random effect multivariate logistic regression model, in which age group, gender, TTO block, and self-reported health problems in EQ-5D-5L health domains are adjusted [30,31], suggesting that the validity of the lead-time TTO method we used might be suboptimal. Indeed, lead-time TTO was found to lead to lower positive values than conventional TTO [32].…”

“…Responses to the dimensions collectively form a multiattribute health state that can be assigned a utility score (ie, EQ-5D index score) to indicate the value of the health state to Chinese general population. 26 The index score ranges from −0.149 (worst health state) to 1.0 (full health), with a higher score indicating higher utility or better HRQOL. 26 The second part is a visual analog scale (VAS), which is a vertical 0 to 100 point rating scale, for respondents to rate their overall health.…”
