Chiral supersymmetric Standard Model spectra from orientifolds of Gepner models

Abstract: We construct d = 4, N = 1 orientifolds of Gepner models with just the chiral spectrum of the standard model. We consider all simple current modular invariants of c = 9 tensor products of N = 2 minimal models. For some very specific tensor combinations, and very specific modular invariants and orientifold projections, we find a large number of such spectra. 4 We allow for standard model singlet (dark) matter and non-chiral exotics. The Chan-Paton gauge group is either U(3)×Sp(2)×U(1)×U(1) or U(3)×U(2)×U(1)×U(1)… Show more

“…Let us compare the overall suppression of models by the K-theory constraints to the analogous results for Gepner Models [26,48]. Unfortunately, a direct comparison of our gauge statistics and the Gepner Model data is not possible, since the abundance of solutions at the Gepner point forced the authors to restrict their search a priori to Standard Model like vacua.…”

“…Another recently discussed class of intersecting D-brane models are Gepner model orientifolds [47][48][49][50][51][52][53][54]. Since Gepner models describe exact solutions of the nonlinear sigma model on certain Calabi-Yau manifolds deep inside the Kähler moduli space, they provide some insights on 3-cycles on Calabi-Yau manifolds there.…”

“…Moreover, we will briefly discuss some phenomenological aspects of such D-brane models. 4 Besides orbifold constructions, semi-realistic models based on non-geometric conformal field theory, such as orientifolds of Gepner models [45,46], have most recently been considered in [47][48][49][50][51][52][53][54]. These vacua are known to describe special points in the moduli space of certain Calabi-Yau manifolds, and the results in the literature indicate that supersymmetric semirealistic chiral particle spectra can be obtained in many of these models [54].…”

“…However, previous studies of family number distributions seem to suggest that in fact precisely the number three is difficult to obtain. In the area of orientifolds, systematic studies have been done for a variety of Standard Model features [19,20,21,17,22]. Although most of this work has focused on getting the Standard Model itself, a number of conclusions can be drawn about distributions of certain parameters and discrete properties in its neighbourhood, such as coupling constants, the presence of various kinds of GUTs, the number of families, or the presence of fractional charges.…”
