Choledochoscope manometry about different drugs on the Sphincter of Oddi

Abstract: AIM: To assess the effects of H 2 -receptor blocking pharmacon, protease inhibitor, and gastro kinetic agents on the human Sphincter of Oddi (SO) motility by choledochoscope manometry. METHODS: One hundred and seventy-five patients with T tube installed after cholecystectomy and choledochotomy were assessed by choledochoscope manometry. They were randomly assigned into groups of H 2 -receptor blocking pharmacon, protease inhibitor, and gastro kinetic agents. The Sphincter of Oddi basal pressure (SOBP), amplitu… Show more

“…Abnormalities in SO contractility are thought to be related to the high incidence of biliary infections and cholelithiasis. 4 Given the increasing acceptance of these minimally invasive surgical procedures, what changes will occur with respect to the management of patients with choledocholithiasis? In this study we compared the SO pressure changes and stone recurrence rates after surgery in patients with choledocholithiasis who underwent LCBDE during LC or EST with LC, which may provide clinical evidence for patients with choledocholithiasis and physicians to choose the most appropriate minimally invasive surgical approach.…”

“…[ 20 ] In addition, gabexate has a specific effect on relieving Oddi sphincter spasms. [ 40 ] However, Andriulli et al [ 41 , 42 ] have shown that gabexate cannot effectively prevent the occurrence of PEP in either ordinary or high-risk patients. At present, the opinion of Japanese experts is that although gabexate can prevent the occurrence of PEP, it must be used in a large dose (1 g) and for a long time (12 hours).…”

“…The main bile duct stores the bile that is secreted continuously by the liver, to expel it only a few times a day during meals. During this storage period, the main bile duct endures large radial distension, with an increased pressure, which can explain its softer behavior in this direction (Kong, 2008;W. C. Li et al, 2013).…”
