Chromatic Dispersion Compensation Using Adaptive Fiber Bragg Grating for High-Speed Optical Communication

Abstract: Optical fiber is a glass or plastic like wired structure used to transmit information in the form of optical signal from transmitter to receiver end. Whenever we talk about any communication system, we always look over losses. This paper is focused on dispersion loss and how to reduce it. When the pulses travel through optical fiber, after travelling some distance, each pulses start spreading and overlaps with each other and leads to dispersion loss. A phenomenon in which the optical signal gets spread into di… Show more

“…Due to the advantages of high sensitivity, flexibility, and lower cost, optical fiber sensors have been extensively investigated for micro-measurement, 1 high sensitivity sensing, 2 photonic detector, 3 and high-speed optical communication. 4 In the field of optical sensing, humidity and temperature are crucial parameters with applications spanning environmental monitoring, industrial process control, agriculture, and biomedicine. [5][6][7] Compared with traditional humidity and temperature electronic sensors, fiber grating sensors have many advantages, such as high sensitivity, electromagnetic interference resistance, and corrosion resistance, and great progress has been made in study and application in recent years.…”

“…A variety of methods have been proposed to compensate for chromatic dispersion, such as using digital filters including the time-domain least mean square adaptive filter, a time-domain fiber dispersion finite impulse response filter, and a frequency-domain blind look-up filter [7] and by controlling the grating length of the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) [8,9].…”
