Chromatographic Fingerprint Analysis and Characterization of Constituents in Shenqi Fuzheng Injection by HPLC-DAD-ELSD and UFLC-DAD-Q-TOF Tandem Mass Spectrometry Techniques

Abstract: Summary. Shenqi Fuzheng Injection (SFI) is a traditional Chinese medicine injection, widely used to enhance immune function of clinical cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. In this study, a high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection-evaporative light scattering detection (HPLC-DAD-ELSD) method was established for quality control of SFI, which could simultaneously semiquantitatively reflect the constituents displayed in the chromatographic profile of SFI. The relative retention time and re… Show more

“…All compounds, except Peaks 15, 24, 25, 27, 28 and 39, have been reported in our previous studies [ 18 , 20 ]. By comparing the individual peak chromatographic behavior with those of reference standards, Peaks 15, 24 and 39 were unequivocally confirmed as hydroxylbenzoic acid, syringin and formononetin, respectively.…”

“…In recent decades, researchers have developed some methods to clarify the chemical basis for TCMs, such as fingerprint chromatography [ 26 ], serum pharmacology [ 27 ] and serum pharmacochemistry [ 28 ]. In the present research, serum pharmacochemistry was used based on our previous studies [ 14 , 18 , 20 ], trying to profile the potentially active constituents in RA by the ultra-fast liquid chromatography (UFLC)-DAD-Q-TOF-MS/MS technique.…”

“…Chromatographic fingerprint analysis has been accepted as a strategy for quality assessment of herbal medicines and preparations by the WHO, the FDA, and China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA). It combines chromatographic techniques, such as CE , GC and HPLC , with sensitive and selective detectors like photodiode array detection (PDA) , evaporative light‐scatter detection (ELSD) and MS to construct specific patterns of recognition for multiple compounds in herbal drugs. The entire pattern of compounds can then be evaluated to determine not only the absence or presence of desired markers or actives but the complete set of ratios of all detectable analytes .…”
