Dear editors, Cigarette smoking is prevalent among individuals with mood disorders, and particularly among those with bipolar disorder. 1 Given that depression and smoking independently predict poor cardiovascular health over time, understanding the characteristics of smokers with depression who engage in interventions to improve their cardiovascular health (e.g., physical activity interventions) could in-| 843 LETTER increased risk due to smoking for individuals already at risk for cardiovascular disease, or those with bipolar disorder, based on their etiology, lifestyle characteristics, and treatment options. 1
