CIRBP is a novel oncogene in human bladder cancer inducing expression of HIF-1α

Abstract: Cold-inducible RNA binding protein (CIRBP) has been reported to be associated with distinct tumorigenesis. In this study, we investigated the role of CIRBP in human bladder cancer (BCa), indicating that CIRBP is overexpressed in BCa tissues and cell lines to promote proliferation and migration. Moreover, CIRBP could induce expression of HIF-1α via binding to the 3′-UTR of its mRNA to increase the mRNA stability in BCa cells. Furthermore, we demonstrated that PTGIS is a HIF-1α targeted gene, a major regulator i… Show more

“…The role of CIRBP in tumorigenesis remains controversial. In some cases, it has an oncogenic function (16), while in other studies, it acts as a tumor suppressor (17). According to our results, besides canonical alternative splicing, CIRBP has a splicing-independent low accuracy mechanism of mRNA diversity generation.…”

“…18 To monitoring the recurrence and progression of BCa, the patients had to undergo cystoscopy after surgery, which will bring a huge mental and economic burden to the patient. [21][22][23] These biomarkers may contribute to the prediction of prognosis for BCa patients. [21][22][23] These biomarkers may contribute to the prediction of prognosis for BCa patients.…”

“…19,20 Our group has previously found some biomarkers related to BCa prognosis and carcinogenesis. [21][22][23] These biomarkers may contribute to the prediction of prognosis for BCa patients. Nevertheless, a single biomarker lacks sufficiently accuracy and effectiveness, the comprehensive methods combined several biomarkers can significantly improve the accuracy and effectiveness.…”

“…The DNMT1 was involved in the development of various tumors, including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma [30], breast cancer [31], and cervical cancer [32]. MRPL33 was closely related to the incidence of head and neck cancer [33], gastric cancer [34], and breast cancer [35].EZH2, PCF11, RBM24, DZIP1, EIF5A2, MKRN3, PSMA6, AZGP1, IGF2BP2,andCIRBP was also reported to involve in the development of tumor [36][37][38][39].…”
