Circular Polarization Textile Antenna for GPS Application

Abstract: A right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) textile antenna for Global Positioning System (GPS) application is proposed. The circular polarization (CP) is achieved by truncated two opposite edged of the 84 mm square patch. The proposed antenna design use a shieldit super as the radiator and felt fabric as substrates. Such presented antenna attains a good bandwidth of 90 MHz from 1.53-1.62 GHz. Besides, the antenna is capable to perform an axial ratio of less than <3 between 1.56 and 1.62 GHz which covered the … Show more

“…It is well known that bending the antenna in some particular direction degrades its performance for the intended application [107]. This is not limited in terms of shifting their resonant frequency, but also affects antenna polarization, especially, when circular polarization is required [108]. One of the techniques to alleviate these effects and maintain antenna performance during bending or crumpling is to ensure a wideband operation.…”

“…For wearable CP antennas, bending affects their radiation performance, as expected. Bending not only changes their resonant frequency for such CP antennas but also degrades its polarization properties [108]. On the contrary, bending affects the resonant frequency of linearly-polarized antennas due to changes in its effective length.…”
