Circularly Polarized 2×2 Mimo Antenna for Wlan Applications

Abstract: Abstract-A 2 × 2 circularly polarized (CP) MIMO antenna is proposed to resonate at 5.8 GHz IEEE 802.11 WLAN band for non-line of sight (NLOS) communication. The proposed design achieves circular polarization with two optimized 90 • apart rectangular slots etched at the center of a truncated rectangular patch. The proposed MIMO covers 5.49-6.024 GHz frequency band. The achieved isolation between two ports is more than 33 dB. The gain at the 5.8 GHz resonant frequency is 5.34 dBi. The diversity performance in te… Show more

“…The design produced gain of >2 dBi . A 2*2 MIMO antenna with asymmetric slots in patch was used to achieve circular polarization, and the slot between the antenna element were used to control the interelement coupling . A series of hexagonal cut antenna element with ground modification technique was used to improve the isolation …”

“…However, all the above-mentioned structures have only linearly polarized (LP) radiating elements. Recently, use of single or multiple circularly polarized (CP) radiators along with conventional LP radiators is garnering serious attention among MIMO system designers [13]- [16]. It is shown in [13] that application of CP antennas for MIMO transmission instead of conventional cross linear polarization antennas will emerge a promising method in outdoor to indoor environments.…”

“…In [14], a two element MIMO antenna system with polarization and pattern diversity (LP/CP type) is reported, where compactness is achieved in the proposed design at the cost of inter-element isolation in the operating band. CP antenna arrays are used to achieve the desired diversity characteristics in [15] and [16]. In this letter, a compact three-element MIMO antenna system ( Fig.…”
