Circulating myeloid‐derived suppressor cells correlate with clinical outcome in Hodgkin Lymphoma patients treated up‐front with a risk‐adapted strategy

Abstract: SummaryIn the attempt to find a peripheral blood biological marker that could mirror the dysregulated microenvironment of Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL), we analysed the amount of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC), including the three main sub-types (monocytic, granulocytic and CD34 + fraction). The absolute MDSC count was investigated in 60 consecutive newly diagnosed HL patients and correlated with clinical variables at diagnosis and outcome. Patients received standard-of-care chemotherapy with the exception of… Show more

“…22,23 Regarding lymphoid neoplasias, both G-and M-MDSCs are increased in Hodgkin lymphoma and in multiple myeloma. 25,37,38 Few studies were conducted on B-cell lymphomas or CLL, which focused exclusively on the M-MDSC subtype. [27][28][29]39 Because the majority of blood biomarkers in DLBCL are linked to tumor microenvironment and in particular to myeloid cell biology, 6,7,14-17 further characterization of the MDSC compartment is highly relevant in this disease.…”

“…We previously showed that MDSC are increased in HL and have a prognostic role [17]. We therefore focused on neutrophils since neutrophilia is a common clinical finding in HL, and together with a low lymphocytes count We reported sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) in the training and validation set for Arg-1 as biomarker predictive of PFS at 24 months.…”

“…MDSC phenotype in humans is still controversial [12][13][14][15][16]. Our previous work found that MDSC are increased in HL and have a prognostic significance [17].…”

“…Он состоит + позволяют предсказать краткосрочную выживаемость без прогрессирования, аналогично данным ПЭТ-2 (позитронно-эмиссионной томографии), но с тем преимуществом, что результаты можно получить на момент установления диагноза. По мнению авторов, это предоставляет информацию для принятия решения о выборе наиболее адекватной схемы лечения [70].…”
