Classification and evaluation of some endemic plants from Turkey using Grime’s CSR strategies

Abstract: Background: Functional traits play important roles in plant growth and survival. According to functional traits, there are several classification types for plants such as adaptive and demographic strategies. Materials and Methods: In this study, eight endemic taxa were collected from the Amasya Kirklar Mountain in Turkey and were classified and evaluated by Grime's CSR (Competitive, Stress tolerant, Ruderal) strategy scheme. Results: These plants are in the LR(lc) (Lower risk/least concern) red list category a… Show more

“…Similarly, CSR analysis using the latest methods and tools proposed by Pierce et al (2017) has excellent effectiveness. Furthermore, the broad potential of the application of CSR analysis has been documented by several studies (Caccianiga et al 2006, Pierce et al 2007a, b, 2012, 2013, Cerabolini et al 2010a, b, 2016, Kilinç et al 2010, Navas et al 2010, Yildirim et al 2012, Ciccarelli 2015, May et al 2017, Astuti et al 2019, Giupponi et al 2019. However, there is a lack of research aimed at analysing intraspecific variation in CSR strategy (Chelli et al 2019).…”

“…Gas exchange of excised leaves was measured. Photosynthetic capacity was measured at saturating photosynthetically active radiation (800-1200 mol/m 2 c); respiration rate of the leaves was measured in the dark at a temperature of [18][19][20] ∘ C. Leaves were sampled from 10 to 15 individual plants. The results for photosynthesis and respiration are presented based on the leaf dry weight.…”

“…These models were used to determine life strategies in different climate zones from alpine meadows in Italy [17] to desert vegetation in Turkey [18]. However, there are no data of these models being used in northern latitudes.…”
