“…Importantly, this literature review only covers articles describing studies using clear aligner on the upper incisors and published from 2010 till the present, since 2009 marked a great innovation regarding optimized features in Invisalign aligner - the introduction of Invisalign Smart Technology. 9 , 10 , 11 Within this period, no randomized clinical trials exist on the topic. This means that no randomized experiments were ever performed on the accuracy and efficiency of tooth movements performed on maxillary incisors since the introduction of optimized aligner features.…”

“…In daily dental practice, especially in the area of orthodontics, there are many common side effects such as pain, discomfort and poor patient cooperation that affect the success of orthodontic treatment with removable appliances [1]. Therefore, with the technological development in oral health care, new ways have been created to promote treatments that are adapted to the needs of patients, thus avoiding these unwanted effects [2]. The term tooth movement using sequential removable appliances was introduced in 1945 by Dr. Harold Dean Kesling [3], who said that "these appliances allow the teeth to be placed in their most ideal position without the need for brackets, bands or wires and that it is also more effective against functional forces".…”

“…Further, the aligner therapy includes a sequential usage of various transparent trays made from thermoplastic materials ( 6 ). As suitable examples of the latter, polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane (PU), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyethylene terephthalate glycol copolyester (PET-G) can be stated ( 7 ).…”
