Since aromatic retinoid (Etretinate, Ro 10-9359, La Roche) has been shown to be effective for Darier's disease [6], On the other hand, we have studied the effect of top ical application with 0.1% aromatic retinoid ointment on guinea pig epidermis histolog ically, electron microscopically, and autoradiographically [7], Differentiation and pro liferation of the epidermis in guinea pigs af ter topical application of aromatic retinoid showed almost the same response in quanti ty as the epidermis after topical application of retinoic acid, while the epidermal alter ation was less than in the epidermis after topical application of retinoic acid. There fore, we used 0.1% aromatic retinoid oint ment in our patient and obtained favorable results without side effects.…”
