Cluster‐based emergency message dissemination strategy for VANET using V2V communication

Abstract: Data dissemination in vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is emerging as a critical area of research. One of the challenges posed by this domain is the reliability of connection, which depends on many parameters, such as the bandwidth consumption, transmission delay, and data quality of service (QoS). Dissemination of emergency messages is very critical since the network topology is changing frequently and rapidly, which leads to data loss. So, it is necessary to develop new protocols and enhance dissemination sc… Show more

“…Moreover, the multi-hop approach needs more control packet exchange, which causes communication overhead. In [26], an event-driven cluster-based scheme is introduced to achieve efficient bandwidth utilization and reduced message delivery time. However, clustering after event detection causes end-to-end delay, which is not favorable for timecritical information.…”

“…It narrows the feasible solution space through a clustering algorithm, which then minimizes the total number of time slots required for security information sharing in VANET. Benkerdagh et al [ 22 ] performed data processing before the propagation process by building a fast and stable clustering scheme to improve message delivery time and obtain effective bandwidth consumption.…”

“…Such tasks are needed e.g., for route maintenance or critical alert dissemination. However, even though multiple seeds for cluster centers were studied [18], the time schedule for broadcasting to a sequence of cluster centers was not considered in this context. A related problem is also unequal clustering in wireless sensor networks [19].…”
