Cluster Difference Imaging Photometric Survey. I. Light Curves of Stars in Open Clusters from TESS Sectors 6 and 7

Abstract: The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) is providing precise time-series photometry for most star clusters in the solar neighborhood. Using the TESS images, we have begun a Cluster Difference Imaging Photometric Survey (CDIPS), in which we are focusing both on stars that are candidate cluster members, and on stars that show indications of youth. Our aims are to discover giant transiting planets with known ages, and to provide light curves suitable for studies in stellar astrophysics. For this work, we… Show more

“…We have validated three systems to date: DS Tuc A b (Newton et al 2019), HIP 67522 b (Rizzuto et al 2020), and HD 63433 b and c (Mann et al 2020). Our work complements the efforts of other groups to discover young exoplanets, such as the Cluster Difference Imaging Photometric Survey (CDIPS; Bouma et al 2019) and the PSF-based Approach to TESS High quality data Of Stellar clusters project (PATHOS;Nardiello et al 2019).…”

“…The QLP has produced light curves for ∼16 million stars brighter than TESS-band magnitude, T mag = 13.5, observed in the FFIs at a 30 minute cadence. Additionally, the community produces millions of time series (Lund et al 2015(Lund et al , 2017Bouma et al 2019;Feinstein et al 2019;Nardiello et al 2019;Caldwell et al 2020;Montalto et al 2020) from the FFIs that are not evaluated in this work.…”

“…To advance the young-planet census, we have been using data from the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS; Ricker et al 2015) to perform a Cluster Difference Imaging Photometric Survey (CDIPS; Bouma et al 2019). Our targets in this survey are candidate young stars that have been reported in the literature.…”
