Sodium cobaltate (NaCoO2) is analyzed for the CO2 cyclic carbonation–decarbonation process at low temperatures (30–80 °C) with relative humidity (RH) values between 0% and 80%, using water vapor as a catalytic intermediate. The presence of H2O clearly enhances the CO2 capture at T < 100 °C, compared with dry conditions, where the amount of CO2 captured increases as a function of RH. These improvements are attributed to the formation of NaHCO3 and Na2CO3 during carbonation. In the case of NaHCO3, water vapor becomes a part of carbonation, favoring reactivity. After the carbonation analysis, the decarbonation process is analyzed using a N2 flow, where results evidence that only NaHCO3 decomposition takes place at low temperatures, producing NaOH and CO2. This result indicates that NaCoO2 can be partially regenerated, suggesting a possible CO2 cyclic carbonation. CO2 carbonation–decarbonation tests are performed, confirming the cyclic capacity and stability. Moreover, the NaCoO2 sample is modified by adding different transition metals (Fe, Cu, and Ni) to improve CO2—H2O sorption under similar physicochemical conditions. Results indicate that Fe‐containing samples present the best properties. Finally, the effect of CO2 partial pressure on NaCoO2 and Fe‐containing samples is analyzed using similar RHs.

The effects of various CO 2 concentrations in CO 2 bioconversion by cultivation of microalga Chlorella vulgaris were investigated using a vertical tubular photobioreactor. The response surface technique with central composite design was applied to model the CO 2 biofixation rate, the specific growth rate (SGR), and the biomass productivity of C. vulgaris as function of CO 2 concentration and cultivation time. The developed nonlinear model was employed to determine the optimum CO 2 concentration in an air-CO 2 mixture and the cultivation time for maximum CO 2 biofixation, SGR, and microalgae biomass productivity. In addition, a multiple responses optimization method was also applied to determine the maximum CO 2 uptake rate, the SGR, and the biomass productivity, simultaneously. The predicted optimum values agreed well with the experimental data.

Two different types of hollow‐fiber membrane contactors were used for CO2 separation from the gas stream with monoethanolamine (MEA) absorbent and numerically investigated. After the model validation with experimental data, CO2 removal efficiency, MEA concentration, and pressure drop variation were examined under different conditions by variation of some effective parameters such as gas stream velocity, absorption solution velocity, membrane porosity, and membrane tortuosity. Membrane tortuosity and porosity enhancement led to light decrease and light increase in CO2 removal efficiency, respectively, but gas stream velocity enhancement significantly reduced the CO2 removal efficiency.
