Co-Mo-Cr alloys for dentistry obtained by vacuum precise casting

Abstract: Co-Mo-Cr alloys for dentistry obtained by vacuum precise casting There are several biocompatible Co-Cr-Mo alloy compositions, as well as technological processes suitable for obtaining the tablet samples aimed to produce dental implants and orthodontic devices. Here presented Co-Cr-Mo alloy, besides its biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, and nickel absence, is favorable for its mechanical properties, such as hardness, tensile and fatigue strength. The technology for raw materials preparation and manufactur… Show more

“…CoCrMo alloys can be produced using a traditional melting and casting method and other alternative methods such as vacuum casting, laser-based powder bed fusion of metals (PBF-LB/M), computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing, laser sintering, etc. [ 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 ]. In recent years, electron beam melting [ 10 , 11 , 12 ] has been increasingly used in the production of surgical implants due to the possibility of easily obtaining the final form of the product.…”

“…Cobalt is a metal that determines the basic mechanical properties of the alloy, such as hardness, strength, and toughness [8]. Chromium, whose content is up to 30%, provides biocompatibility and corrosion resistance by forming a protective oxide layer (Cr 2 O 3 ) that prevents the diffusion of metal atoms and their contact with oxygen.…”

“…There are a number of studies in the literature on the microstructure of Co-Cr-Mo alloys, taking into account the differences in the composition of the samples, the type, and content of the alloying elements, the methods of melting and hardening, the melting temperature, the retention time, etc. [3,[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14].…”
