Abstract:In this article, we first describe the classical theory in which transmission lines are assumed to be a distributed section of series resistance and inductance as well as shunt capacitance and conductance. This model is then evolved into the telegrapher equation, which explains the wave nature of electromagnetic energy guided by a two‐conductor transmission line. Finally, the field theory of transmission lines is used to derive coaxial transmission‐line theory.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
