“…[42] As to the spectra of Fe2p, binding energy peaks at around 713 and 725 eV are identified for Fe2p 3/2 and Fe2p 1/2 , respectively, indicating the 3+ oxidation state of Fe in both samples. [44] As for the B-NFN-MOF/NF, the η 10 is 265 mV, higher than that of the in situ grown NFN-MOF/ NF, confirming the advantages associated with the in situ growth. Figure 1e shows the uniform coverage of the NFN-MOF over the backbone surface of the NF (Figure 1d).…”

“…It is better than the electrode having the bimetallic MOF but without the NH 2 group, MIL-88B(Fe 2 Ni)-MOF/ NF, implying the importance of the amino group in boosting the HER performance. It also stands out among the recently reported top transitionmetal-based bifunctional electrocatalysts on NF for overall water splitting, including NiFe/NiCo 2 O 4 /NF (1.67 V), [42] NiCo 2 S 4 / NF (1.63 V), [43] annealed Co-Ni-B@NF (1.72 V), [44] FeNi 3 N/NF (1.62 V), [46] NiSe/NF (1.63 V), [48] NiCo 2 N-NF (1.70 V), [54] and Co 1 Mn 1 CH/NF (1.68 V) [55] (Table S6, Supporting Information). The metal ions (Fe 3+ and Ni 2+ ) of the NFN-MOF may be partially reduced to its metallic state forming M/MO 6 clusters.…”

“…The XPS survey spectrum in Figure S4 a in the SupportingI nformations hows that the main elemental composition includes Ni, Fe, and B, whereas the Os ignal originates from surfaceo xidation due to air contact and Cisa dventitiousc arbon from contamination during the preparation.F urthermore, energy dispersive spectroscopic (EDS) mappingo f the materialr eveals the homogeneous distribution of these constituent elements ( Figure S5 in the Supporting Information). [12] These unusual structural properties benefitt he water oxidation reactiona nd enhancet he stabilityo ft he catalysts during the electrochemical testing as under oxidation potential these materials also get covered by metal (oxo-boro)hydroxides. The composition follows the general formula M 2 B, where Mi st he total amount of nickel and iron.…”

“…The drop-casted electrode (Fe-6Ni-B/NF) shows am uch high Tafel slope (68 vs. 38 mV dec À1 )a nd al arger charge-transfer resistance (2.5 vs. 0.7 W)( Figure S10 in the Supporting Information). [12,49] The stabilityt owards the OER is another important factor that should be considered for this earth-abundant metal-based electrocatalyst. [48] This can be interpreted as ac omplex synergistic effect between the substrate and the conductive catalystc ore, which provides an effective electron transport within the amorphous metal boride nanostructure to facilitate the OER active centers in the shell of the catalyst.…”
