Abstract:In this contribution, we revisit the criteria required to achieve the well-known frequency-to-time mapping phenomenon. It is found that the popular far-field inequality is too restrictive when applied to most of the waveforms of interest in radiofrequency arbitrary waveform generation. A new condition based on notions borrowed from the field of antenna engineering is investigated. This "antenna designer's formula" sets a more precise limit on the minimum dispersion required for the frequency-to-time mapping to… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
