Abstract:We re-examine the effect of long-range Coulomb interactions on the collective amplitude and phase modes in the incommensurate charge-density wave ground state of quasi-one-dimensional conductors. Using an effective action approach we show that the longitudinal acoustic phonon protects the gapless linear dispersion of the lowest phase mode in the presence of long-range Coulomb interactions. Moreover, in Gaussian approximation amplitude fluctuations are not affected by longrange Coulomb interactions. We also cal… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
