Column Penetration and Diffusion Mechanism of Bingham Fluid Considering Displacement Effect

Abstract: The diffusion progress of grout is hindered by groundwater, which means the diffusion distance cannot reach the designed values required in engineering for water plugging or reinforcement. In this study, based on the generalized Darcy’s law and the continuity equation of steady column penetration, a column diffusion mechanism for Bingham fluid, considering the displacement effect of grout on groundwater, is proposed. This diffusion mechanism is then validated by the penetration grouting experiments that have b… Show more

“…The influence of sandy soil porosity on grout diffusion has been studied extensively. Based on the existing studies, the sandy soil porosity varied from 0.3 to 0.57 [23,27,38,49,50]. When the porosity ϕ is 0.3, the corresponding permeability coefficient K w is 5.00 × 10 −4 m/s [38,41].…”

“…Currently, there is relatively little research on the filtration effect in seepage grouting. Some scholars have conducted indoor tests to study the seepage effect's influence on grouting diffusion [21][22][23]. In terms of model, F Bouchelaghem [24] studied the micro mechanism of the filtration effect, the coupling calculation model of fluid convection, hydrodynamic dispersion and other factors.…”

“…Wang et al [23] obtained the spatial distribution expression of viscosity decay rate considering the in uence of water-cement ratio through a one-dimensional visual grouting test, and derived the Bingham uid column permeability grouting theoretical formula considering the spatial decay of viscosity. Yang et al [24] proposed a Bingham uid column permeation and diffusion mechanism considering the effect of grout on groundwater displacement. Wang et al [25] derived the conventional permeation and diffusion mechanism of Bingham uid in porous media based on the equation of seepage motion.…”
