“…A significant portion (approximately one-third) of patients with PTE are low-risk patients [16]. In the present study, we treated 15 % of all patients (31 in 206) on an outpatient basis using two models.…”
We observed that patients with acute PTE, low-risk sPESI, and negative troponin levels can be safely treated in the outpatient settings. Also the presence of cancer alone does not necessitate hospitalization.

“…25 In this study event rate of combined endpoints all cause 30-days mortality, nonfatal recurrent PE and non-fatal major bleedings was 0% when low risk patients according to ESC model were combined with sPESI 0. 25 Recently, Jimenez D et al derived and validated a multimarker prognostic model based on sPESI as first approach.…”

“…24 Much recently Oszu S et al reported that sPESI and 2008 ESC prognostic model showed similar performance on 30-days mortality. 25 They found an AUC of 0.64 (95%CI: 0.58-0.68) for 2008 ESC prognostic model and 0.62 (95%CI: 0.57-0.67) respectively. In this study all-cause mortality in sPESI score low risk patients was 6% versus 7% in 2008 ESC prognostic model low risk.…”
“…Previous studies reported a mortality rate of 0% to 2.8% in normotensive patients with PE, including a low-risk group classified using the sPESI. 24,25,29,30 In the studies of unstable patients with PE, the mortality rate was from 0% to 1.1%. 7,31 Both studies suggested that outpatient treatment was appropriate for low-risk patients.…”
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
