Combined analysis of mRNA expression of ERCC1, BAG-1, BRCA1, RRM1 and TUBB3 to predict prognosis in patients with non-small cell lung cancer who received adjuvant chemotherapy

Abstract: BackgroundThe aim of this study was to investigate prognostic value of excision repair cross-complementing 1 (ERCC1), BCL2-associated athanogene (BAG-1), the breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility gene 1 (BRCA1), ribonucleotide reductase subunit M1 (RRM1) and class III β-tubulin (TUBB3) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who received platinum- based adjuvant chemotherapy.MethodsMessenger RNA expressions of these genes were examined in 85 tumor tissues and 34 adjacent tissue samples using sem… Show more

“…To date, no previous study has examined the association between ERCC1 and XPD polymorphism and prognosis of glioma yet. Several studies indicated that the wide type ERCC1 and XPD were important markers of improved patients survival (Milovic-Kovacevic et al, 2011;Leng et al, 2012;Yan et al, 2012). In the present study, we found a significantly slight decreased risk of death from glioma.…”

“…A lot of studies revealed that research on single gene cannot judge the prognosis accurately, whereas joint detection of genes can enhance the predictive accuracy (Vilmar et al, 2010;Leng et al, 2012;Pesta et al, 2012). At present, more prospective randomized clinical studies need to be done to select an appropriate molecular genetic indicator combination, consequently providing important references for the formulation of individualized chemotherapy regimens of patients with NSCLC.…”

“…Previous studies have suggested that ERCC1 and RRM1 may play a role in chemosensitivity and the clinical outcomes of NSCLC patients treated with platinum-based chemotherapy (Kotoula et al, 2012;Leng et al, 2012;Pesta et al, 2012;Mlak et al, 2013). However, few studies have investigated the effect of ERCC1 and RRM1 on the clinical outcome of NSCLC or the association between ERCC1 and RRM1 expression and clinical characteristics.…”
