“…[ 21 ] in 1998 reported a combined procedure in 14 pediatric patients where strabismus success was achieved in 11 of them, but visual results could not be commented on. Squirrel and Burke[ 22 ] in 2001 reported three combined squint surgery with phacoemulsification. The first patient had inactive thyroid disease and underwent squint surgery on horizontal rectus muscle, the second patient had a long-standing fourth nerve palsy which decompensated and had intractable vertical diplopia who then underwent Inferior oblique myectomy and the third patient had ocular fibrosis syndrome who underwent inferior rectus and lateral rectus recession to correct his ocular deviation.…”

“…Others have reported similar uncomplicated and satisfactory results of combined intraocular and strabismus surgery. 1,3,5 The primary purpose of our study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of combining intraocular and strabismus surgery in both pediatric and adult patients. This was a retrospective, interventional case series, so no comparisons can be made to a control group of noncombined, staged surgical cases regarding complications and results.…”

“…[1][2][3][4][5] Combining cataract extraction or other lens procedures with strabismus correction may reduce the number of surgical and anesthetic procedures, speed rehabilitation, and offer financial benefit to the patient and third-party payors. However, concerns may arise regarding a potential increased risk of postoperative infection, anterior segment ischemia, or excessive discomfort for the patient.…”
