“…The soil biochemical environment is less oxidizing and due to a more continuous supply of organic materials to soil microorganisms, there is an increase in soil enzymatic activities. We observed higher cellulose (68% more) and xylanase (35% more) activities were found in zero tilled soils which supports the findings of previous workers . The increased soil enzymatic activities were observed under ZT soils may be due to a more continuous supply of organic materials to soil microorganisms and the absence of tillage .…”

“…Mangalassery et al reported as 9% increase in soil C content after 7 years of ZT application. This enhanced C content in zero tilled soil has been attributed to the retention of crop residues at the surface and root biomass in the subsurface layers and lower decomposition rates of the rice residues which also supports our experimental findings. As compared with conventional tillage, zero tillage results in the minimum application of tillage operations which results in a decrease in external interruption.…”

“…While the mineralization of the rocks of the Buem formation is dominated by plagioclases of sodium, calcite, titanium and iron oxide[16], the formations of Atacora, according to[19], are dominated by quartz, muscovite and chlorite. And the basement s.s formations are dominated by plagioclases, quartz and muscovite.Secondly, HCO 3 evolution to Cl-NO 3 point out the anthropogenic influence on groundwater by the intensive use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture by[41].…”
