In the field of Electronic Health (e-Health), Electronic Health Records (EHR) are transmitted between health professionals using e-Health systems for cooperative medical practice, medical monitoring, telemedical expertise, and telemedical imaging. Medical images are a crucial component of EHR and are used in various aspects of telemedicine systems such as expertise, consultation, teaching, and research. However, protecting the authenticity and copyrights of medical images is essential to prevent duplication, modification, or unauthorized distribution. This paper proposes a robust medical image copyright protection method that uses patient palm-print template as watermark and Lorenz chaotic map for template concealing and selecting the appropriate embedding positions in medical images. The novelty of the method lies in optimizing the expected number of modifications per pixel of the medical images after being watermarked. Experimental results indicate that this approach has a high performance with a genuine accept rate of 99.86% and can withstand various image processing attacks, including Gaussian noise, compression, and image rotations, while ensuring personal data security during telemedicine data exchange.

Biometric technique includes of uniquely identifying person based on their physical or behavioural characteristics. It is mainly used for authentication. Storing the template in the database is not a safe approach, because it can be stolen or be tampered with. Due to its importance the template needs to be protected. To treat this safety issue, the suggested system employed a method for securely storing the iris template in the database which is a merging approach for secret image sharing and hiding to enhance security and protect the privacy by decomposing the template into two independent host (public) iris images. The original template can be reconstructed only when both host images are available. Either host image does not expose the identity of the original biometric image. The security and privacy in biometrics-based authentication system is augmented by storing the data in the form of shadows at separated places instead of whole data at one. The proposed biometric recognition system includes iris segmentation algorithms, feature extraction algorithms, a (2, 2) secret sharing and hiding. The experimental results are conducted on standard colour UBIRIS v1 data set. The results indicate that the biometric template protection methods are capable of offering a solution for vulnerability that threatens the biometric template.

Biometric authentication systems raise certain concerns with regard to security, violation of privacy, and storage issues of biometric templates. This paper proposes a protection approach of biometric templates storage in a multimodal biometric system while ensuring both the cancelability of biometric templates and the efficiency of the authentication process. We propose applying a chaotic maps-based transform on the biometric features to address the cancelability issue. We used Logistic map and Torus Automorphism to generate cancelable biometric features of the face and fingerprint minutia points, respectively. Both transformed features would be concatenated and saved in the database of the system instead of the original features. In the authentication stage, the similarity scores of both transformed face and fingerprint templates are computed and fused using the weighted sum rule. The results of the experimentation, conducted using images from the ORL face and FVC2002 DB1 fingerprint databases, demonstrated the higher performance of the proposed approach achieving a genuine accept rate equal to 100%. Moreover, the obtained results confirmed the soundness of the proposed cancelable technique to satisfy the biometric systems’ requirements (i.e., security, revocability, and diversity).
