Abstract:The COMET experiment at J-PARC aims to search for the neutrino-less muon to electron conversion in muonic atoms (µ − N → e − N). In the Standard Model of particle physics, a conversion rate of µ − N → e − N is negligibly small while many new physics models beyond the Standard Model imply it to be detectable. Therefore the µ − N → e − N conversion is highly sensitive to the new physics. The goal sensitivities of COMET are 3 × 10 −15 and 3 × 10 −17 in two different stages. To achieve these goals, the performance… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
