Comment on “A fuzzy soft set theoretic approach to decision making problems”

Abstract: The algorithm for identification of an object in a previous paper of A.R. Roy et al. [A.R. Roy, P.K. Maji, A fuzzy soft set theoretic approach to decision making problems, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 203(2007) 412-418] is incorrect. Using the algorithm the right choice cannot be obtained in general. The problem is illustrated by a counter-example.

“…Roy and Maji [2] first proposed an algorithm to prioritize alternatives or objects characterized by fuzzy soft sets. A different procedure is given by Kong et al [3]. Although these authors claim that the Roy and Maji's algorithm is incorrect on the grounds of a single naive example, such presumed "counterexample" does not stand inspection (cf., Feng et al [4,Subsection 3.2]).…”

“…Rodríguez et al [13] overviewed on fuzzy modeling of complex linguistic preferences in decision-making and pointed out the different points of view used in each proposal to model these complex preferences. Kong et al [14] revised this method, and their revision (the fuzzy choice value based method) has been proved as another method based on the maximum fuzzy choice value. Feng et al [15] presented a novel approach to fuzzy soft set based decision-making problems by using level soft sets.…”

“…Roy and Maji [11] proposed a novel method of object recognition from an imprecise multi-observer data and a decision making application of fuzzy soft set. Although the algorithm was proved incorrectly by Kong et al [12], fuzzy soft sets and multi-observer concepts are valuable to successive researchers. Cagman and Enginoglu [13] defined products of soft sets and uni-int decision function.…”
