Comment on ‘Determining the centres of mass of a circular arc and a circular sector using the principle of virtual work’

Abstract

Letter to the Editor Manukyan and Nikoghosyan [1] use the principle of virtual work to calculate the centre of mass of a circular arc. It may be interesting to note the coincidence of themes with a recent paper [2] and a previous note [3]. These last texts use a totally different method.Also, a proposal by Chernoutsan [4], gives us a version -perhaps more didactic-of the same problem using energy methods, similar to those used by Manunkyan and Nikoghosyan.
