Abstract

Electric vehicles, often known as EVs, are often touted as more environmentally friendly and less noisy alternatives to gasoline-powered automobiles. EVs are gaining popularity due to several factors, including declining prices and increased awareness of climate change and environmental issues. This chapter examines the recent developments in electric vehicles (EVs) concerning the trends in battery technology, performance matrix, charging techniques, new challenges in research, and unexplored possibilities. To be more specific, there is an analysis of the current market for electric vehicles across the globe and the potential for the market's growth in the following years. This article presents an in-depth review of the various battery technologies now available, bearing in mind that the battery is one of the most essential components of electric vehicles. In addition, we investigate the several standards presently accessible for charging electric automobiles and the concepts of power regulation and battery energy management.
