Comparative Analysis of Physical Layer Network Coding-Based Random Access Techniques in WSN Communications

Abstract

This article focuses on enhancing random access methods in wireless communication systems through the introduction of the physical layer network coding technique. Specifically, we delve into the "Contention Resolution Diversity Slotted ALOHA" (CRDSA) protocol, an innovative method based on physical layer network coding and interference cancellation techniques. Our primary objective is to provide an in-depth comparison between traditional protocols such as ALOHA, Slotted ALOHA (SA), and our CRDSA method.In this article, we elaborate on how our CRDSA method outperforms these traditional protocols. We demonstrate concretely that our method significantly enhances channel efficiency, reducing collisions and increasing the overall system throughput. We also present meticulously studied results from our experiments, highlighting CRDSA's superior performance in terms of throughput and packet loss rates.In summary, our study makes a significant contribution by introducing CRDSA as an innovative and effective solution for wireless random access systems. The results clearly demonstrate that our method surpasses traditional approaches, paving the way for significant improvements in wireless communication networks.
