“…Despite significant advances in therapy that have been applied to prolong the survival rate, HCC continues to be a major aggressive malignancy characterized by rapid intrahepatic recurrence and extrahepatic metastasis. 1 , 3 , 31 As such, there is an urgent need to screen the key indicators and understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the recurrence and metastasis of HCC. Using our own patient cohort, we first showed that the promotion of ARFIP2 in HCC patients was closely associated with aggressive tumour features, such as the presence of multiple tumour numbers, microvascular invasion, tumour differentiation and advanced TNM stage ( Table 1 ).…”

“…Data-independent acquisition (DIA)-based liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry clearly showed that HBV genotypes B and C infections are associated with dissimilar protein profiles and different signaling pathways. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis showed that the proteins expressed in the serum of patients infected with HBV-B are more involved in the regulation of complement and coagulation cascades and Staphylococcus aureus infection, while in the serum of patients with HBV-C infection, they are mainly involved in the signaling pathways including NF-κB, PI3K-Akt, focal adhesion, ECM receptor interaction, cell adhesion, and complement and coagulation cascades ( Chen et al, 2021 ). Pathways activated in infection with HBV genotype C are mainly associated with proliferation, inflammation and tumor cell survival, so the protein pattern observed in this study confirms the higher HCC risk of HBV genotype C.…”

“…In addition to the traditional HBV markers HBsAg and anti-HBs, the applications of proteomics have also expanded the development of diagnostic markers. Two differential proteins, VWF and C8B were considered to have the potential to distinguish HBV infection genotypes B and C and could provide precise guidance for HBV genotyping (Chen et al, 2021). The peptide YLWEWASVR derived from the hepatitis B surface antigen was confirmed as a biomarker for the diagnosis of hepatitis B virus infection (Tsai and Hsiao, 2017).…”
