A b s t r a c t A r t i c l e I n f oPhyllodium pulchellum L. Desv. is an subshrub, belongs to the fabaceae family. The present study has been attempted to antifungal activity and quantitative phytochemical analysis of the leaf of P. pulchellum. The plant extracted with different organic solvents viz., aqueous, chloroform and ethanol. Antifungal activity of the leaf extract against some pathogenic fungus like Aspergillus nigar, Pencillium notatum, Rhizhotonia solani and Colletotrichum falcatum. The inhibitory effect of leaf distillates was compared with the standard fluconazole. Quantitative phytochemical analyses were performed using standard procedures. The ethanol leaf extracts of P. pulchellum showed maximum activity against Aspergillus niger, followed by Colletotrichum falcatum, Penicillium notatum and Rhizoctonia solani. The ethanolic extract showed higher level of phenol (88.68±2.081 mg/g), flavonoid (71.33±4.172 mg/g) tannin (30.23±3.025 mg/g) and than the other extracts which having secondary metabolites. These findings provide scientific evidence to support the traditional use of Phyllodium pulchellum and also indicate that the leaf of this species are a promising potential for the development of quantitative phytochemical and antifungal agent.

Objective: The aim and objective of the present study are to study the protective effects of ethanolic extract of Indica tinctoria (EEIT) in isoproterenolinduced acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in rats. Methods:The effect of two doses of isoproterenol (5 mg/kg and 8.5 mg/kg body weight) changes in aspartate transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine phosphokinase (CPK), and total protein (TP) and lipid hydroperoxides, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione (GSH) in blood serum and heart homogenate, for the two consecutive days (29 and 30), were administered subcutaneously in rats in pre-treatment with EEIT for the 28-day study.Results: There was increased the AST, ALT, LDH, CPK, and lipid peroxides levels and decreased the TP, SOD, GSH with Isoproterenol-induced group. Pre-treatment for 28 days with Indigofera tinctoria significantly (p<0.05) increased antioxidants (SOD , GSH) , TP levels and decreased the cardiotoxic agents significantly (p<0.05) such as LPO, AST, ALT, LDH, and CPK levels in treatment groups. Conclusion:I. tinctoria contains beneficial bioactive photochemicals that have been protective effective against isoproterenol-induced AMI in rats.

South East Asia especially the surrounding regions of Jashore district in Bangladesh had a century-old tradition of cultivating Indigo under British colonial pressure, which is now abandoned. This study aims to cultivate Indigofera tinctoria, the true indigo plant and investigate the medicinal properties of indigo dye and dyed fabric to assess the potential of reviving Indigo cultivation. The seeds were collected from authentic sources and cultivated the plant. Leaf extracts (fermented and non-fermented) were produced and assessed for antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Indigo dye was also extracted from leaves following the traditional method and used for fabric dyeing in the microbial redox process and the vat system. Dyed fabrics were assessed for retention of antimicrobial properties. Indigo extracts have been found to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Both the fermented and non-fermented leaf extracts, traditionally made indigo dye, and dyed fabric were found to have antimicrobial properties. The dyed fabric reduced 10000 times inoculated Klebsiella pneumoniae and 30 times Staphylococcus aureus compared to untreated fabrics. The overall observations dictate the potential of indigo to be used in cosmetic and medical preparations and value-added medical or special purpose fabric (i.e., surgical gauge, nappy for newborns, etc.).
