Comparative effect of Freund's adjuvant andAloe veraL. gel on the expression of TNF-α and IL-1β in vaccinatedCyprinus carpioL. withAeromonas hydrophilaC. bacterin

Abstract: The comparative effects of Freund's and Aloe vera gel as adjuvants on the expression of IL-1b and TNF-a genes were studied in vaccinated common carp (Cyprinus carpio) with Aeromonas hydrophila bacterin. Fishes were intraperitoneally immunized with A. hydrophila bacterin in combination with Aloe vera gel or Freund's and also without any adjuvant. At day 28 after immunization, all groups were challenged by lethal dose of A. hydrophila (10 7 cells/ fish). Changes in the expression of IL-1b and TNF-a genes were ev… Show more

“…The positive modulation of TNF-α has been observed in specimens of Cyprinus carpio treated, during vaccination, with Aloe vera, and also on immunity response in poultry, mice, and humans [35]. In that case, the effects were attributed to some poorly defined compounds of the plant [35].…”

“…Regarding the variation of the liver biomolecular markers related to general stress response and immunostimulation, in this case the increase of TNF-α could also be ascribed to a significant production of mediators of inflammation, acting as a strategy of protection [34].
