“…Polypharmacy of antipsychotics and concurrent use of anticholinergics, anxiolytics, or hypnotics were more frequently found in Tokyo. Past studies [4,5,18,19] indicated that patients' subjective responses are generally more favorable to atypical antipsychotics than to typical antipsychotics, but in Tokyo, the advantage of atypical antipsychotics would be compromised by frequent concomitant use of typical antipsychotics. The differences between the two countries align with past reports d Patients' subjective evaluation using a 4-point Likert scale from 1(not bothered at all) to 4 (bothered very much) *P \ 0.05, **P \ 0.01, ***P \ 0.001 Table 4 Stepwise multiple regression analysis of DAI- comparing prescription practices for inpatients [1,2].…”

“…Improved tolerability with the newer drugs has been widely reported in terms of sideeffects and subjective experience. [21][22][23] While it is reasonable to speculate that better subjective tolerability might translate into better compliance in the long term, as yet there are no convincing data to support such a view.…”

“…DAI is an established rating scale for quantifying subjective tolerability of antipsychotic drugs, and the cumulative score on the scale ranges between ϩ 10 and Ϫ 10 (Awad 1993). The shorter version of the scale was administered on earlier occasions while the subjects were receiving antipsychotic drugs (Voruganti et al 2000). For the purpose of this study, subjects who received a negative score (0 to Ϫ 10) were designated as "dysphoric" responders, and those who received a positive score (0 to ϩ 10) were considered as "non-dysphoric" responders.…”
