Abstract:Combustion performances and emissions are mainly influenced by atomization, evaporation of fuel droplets and mixing of fuel and air. In particular, vaporization is often the rate-controlling process and is directly related to the specific fuel consumption of the engine and to pollutant formation. The present work focuses on two competing factors, which strongly influence the vaporization process, specifically: drop-drop interactions and high-pressure effects. Numerical predictions from equilibrium and nonequil… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
