Comparative Study of Simple Choice Auditory Reaction Time of University Sports and Sedentary Female Students

Abstract: Simple choice auditory reaction time plays a vital role in daily life including sports. The balanced reaction of both sides of the human helps in achieving the highest movement output. The purpose of the study is to compare simple reaction time between university sports and sedentary female students based on preferred and non-preferred hand. Subjects were selected from Jashore University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh. They were bachelor and master students and were between 19-26 years old. There were 2… Show more

“…Reaction time indicates how quickly an organism responds to particular stimuli and is affected by factors like age, gender, handedness, visual concentration, practice, fatigue, fasting, breathing rhythms, personality traits, physical activity, and cognitive capabilities (Jain et al, 2015). In the context of events, reaction time pertains to the ability to swiftly and effectively respond to stimuli such as sound or light, demonstrating quick and suitable posture and control (Reza et al, 2018;Singh & Singh, 2024). Auditory and visual reaction time, vital in this context, denotes the time interval from the introduction of a sound or light stimulus to the commencement of the corresponding response.…”

“…Moreover, a very small difference in the players’ reaction time plays a significant role in distinguishing between the winner and loser [ 4 ]. In team sports, reaction time is the ability to respond as quickly as possible to stimuli like sound, light, and signal [ 5 ]. In the literature, reaction time is becoming increasingly important, especially in a team sport where not only straight ahead speed is an important but mainly quick reaction to the situation on the pitch [ 5 ].…”
