Comparison between extraction methods of photosynthetic pigments in Acacia mangium

Abstract: The aim of this work was to determine a simple and rapid protocol for the extraction of photosynthetic pigments (chlorophylls and carotenoids) from Acacia mangium (Willd.), a pioneer species with rapid growth and that has been used in commercial forests in northern Brazil. The experiment consisted of 4x5 factorial, 4 solvents (ethanol, dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), and 80% acetone) and 5 extraction times (24, 48, 72, 96, and 120 hours). The equations used for calculations varied accord… Show more

“…However, it appears that natural dyes content varied qualitatively and quantitatively from one species to another of the same genus, this can be attributed to the genetic fingerprint characterising each plant 30 . This yield varied also according to other factors such as plant organ, conditions of drying and nature or polarity of the solvent used 31 …”

“…A pot experiment was performed to evaluate the effect of honokiol on tobacco black shank development. Chlorophyll content and total sugar content were estimated following the methods described by Siebeneichler et al (2019). Root vigor was tested using the measurement of respiratory activity with triphenyltetrazolium chloride, as described by Liu et al (2021a).…”

“…The lowest Chl-a concentration (0.03 mg L −1 ) was recorded in the 2013 sample at 2 m, increasing to 3.58 and 4.17 mg L −1 in 2018 and 2019, respectively, at the same depth (2 m). These differences are probably due to the different protocols used, with the fluorometric method [36] used in years 2016-2019 being much more sensitive [61]. 1).…”
