Comparison of Microtexture Evolution During Cryo and Room Temperature Rolling of Ti–5Ta–2Nb Alloy

Abstract: An a ? b Ti-5Ta-2Nb alloy has been developed for applications under severe oxidizing conditions of boiling concentrated nitric acid in spent fuel reprocessing plant. The formation of nanocrystalline grains has been observed in the cryo-rolled sample accompanied by a significant improvement in yield strength whereas the grain refinement is not significant in case of room temperature rolled sample.
