Comparison of swept-source and enhanced depth imaging spectral-domain optical coherence tomography in quantitative characterisation of the optic nerve head

Abstract: LCDH, LCDV and thinnest BMO-MRW measurements are not interchangeable between SS-OCT and EDI-OCT, but show good intrareader and inter-reader reproducibility and interdevice agreement for quantitative characterisation of the ONH, particularly among patients with glaucoma.

“…Although BMO‐MRW measurements can be obtained in a commercially available SD‐OCT device (Spectralis; Heidelberg Engineering GmbH, Heidelberg, Germany), BMO‐MRW reproducibility has been reported in only one study (Li et al. ). The purpose of this study was to investigate the reproducibility of BMO‐MRW and RNFLT measurements acquired relative to the FoBMO axis with SD‐OCT.…”

“…The BMO-MRW was measured within the ONH from radial B-scans. As previously described, 17 the internal limiting membrane was automatically delineated, and BMO was manually identified. Subsequently, the minimum distance from BMO to internal limiting membrane was automatically identified and calculated on each side of the 12 radial scans (total of 24 measurements per eye).…”
