Abstract: Mucosal microbial dysbiosis occurs at both inflamed and non-inflamed sites in UC patients. The taxa showing altered abundance in UC patients might mediate colonic inflammation.

“…Patients with UC have an altered gut microbiome, commonly called dysbiosis. Microbiome alterations in UC are characterised by reduced alpha‐diversity combined with increases in the Proteobacteria phylum and decreases in the Firmicutes phylum . At genus level, Roseburia is reported to be decreased and Haemophilus increased .…”

“…Among the less‐abundant bacteria in the GI‐FL patients in this study, Prevotella spp were changed the most compared with the controls. Prevotella is an oral bacterium, and its abundance is reported to be reduced in inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis Prevotella might suppress lymphocyte‐mediated inflammation.…”

“…Prevotella is an oral bacterium, and its abundance is reported to be reduced in inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis. 14,26 Prevotella might suppress lymphocytemediated inflammation. Furthermore, Prevotella loescheii extracts are reported to inhibit proliferation of human peripheral blood lymphocytes and a leukemic cell line.…”

“…Microbacterium genus abundance was associated with different inflammatory disorders: otitis externa [28], noma [29], and bacteremia [30]. OTUs belonging to [Tissierellaceae] family were more abundant in ulcerative colitis sites [31].…”
