“…Some studies insist that elevated lymphocytes facilitate aggressive tumor behavior and thus result in reduced survival, and these are in accordance with our finding that elevated lymphocyte counts reflected a higher stage of PTC [ 25 , 28 , 29 ]. A similar positive correlation trend is also found in medullary thyroid carcinoma [ 30 ]. Our data may offer evidence of the association between lymphocytes and adverse invasive behavior in PTC.…”

“…These results are similar to those reported in studies by Luo et al that focused on histology in esophageal cancer [ 25 , 28 ], gastric cancer [ 29 ], lung cancer [ 10 ] and urothelial carcinoma [ 30 ]. In our previous study [ 31 ], we reported that hyperfibrinogenemia was associated with a higher rate of lymph node and capsule invasion in medullary thyroid carcinoma. To our knowledge, this is the first study to explore serum fibrinogen levels in PTC.…”

“…Meanwhile, emerging evidence indicates that host inflammation relates to cancer pathophysiology and progression 10‐13 . Systemic inflammatory markers (SIMs), which derive from the peripheral blood, such as neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and lymphocyte‐to‐monocyte ratio (LMR), have been extensively investigated for diagnostic and prognostic value in a variety of solid tumors including thyroid carcinoma 14‐23 . Integrated indicators such as neutrophil‐platelet‐lymphocyte ratio (NPLR) and neutrophil‐monocyte‐lymphocyte ratio (NMLR) have been developed.…”
