Comparisons of the Plasma Performance of Future Thailand Tokamak using Various External Heating Schemes

Abstract: Simulations of future Thailand tokamak plasmas are carried out using a CRONOS integrated predictive modelling code. The design of the reactor is based on nominal parameters of HT-6 M tokamak. The code consists of a 1D transport solver with general 2D magnetic equilibria, and includes several heat, particle and impurities transport models as well as heat, particle and momentum sources. In this work, a combination of a mixed Bohm/gyro-Bohm anomalous transport model and an NCLASS neoclassical transport model are … Show more

“…Our simulations consider the scenario where hydrogen gas is injected into the tokamak via SMBI, and it is assumed that this injection takes place at the midplane of the tokamak on the low-field side (LFS). The initial profiles for the plasma density and temperatures are ob-tained from a CRONOS integrated predictive simulation that numerically investigates the Ohmic phase of the TT-1 plasma [27]. The electron density near the magnetic axis is estimated to be approximately 2 × 10 19 m −3 , while the temperatures of the electrons and ions at the core are approximately 2500 eV and 750 eV, respectively.…”

“…Neumann boundary conditions are employed for other evolving variables. The initial profiles of n e , T e , T i were taken from the CRONOS simulation of TT-1 plasma [1]. There is no the fuel molecule and atoms inside the tokamak at the beginning.…”

“…Some components of TT-1 are adopted from the HT-6M tokamak, while most components and several subsystems, such as diagnostic tools, are new. In the initial phase of the operation of TT-1, the hydrogen plasma will be only heated by Ohmic heating, without external heating [1]. It will also rely on the gas puff (GP) for fueling the plasma.…”
