Abstract:We construct examples of complete quaternionic Kähler manifolds with an end of finite volume, which are not locally homogeneous. The manifolds are aspherical with fundamental group which is up to an infinite cyclic extension a semi-direct product of a lattice in a semi-simple group with a lattice in a Heisenberg group. Their universal covering is a cohomogeneity one deformation of a symmetric space of noncompact type.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
