The inclusion of exogenous digestive enzymes and probiotics is well established in the aquafeed industry. The mixture of multienzymes and probiotics improves the feed utilization and wellbeing of aquatic animals than the individual supplementation. Herein, we evaluated the exogenous multi-enzyme mixture (beta-glucanase, cellulase, alfa-amylase, protease, xylanase, and phytase) at 250 mg/kg and multi-species probiotic (Bacillus subtilis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. delbrueckii, L. rhamnosus, L. plantarum, and Pediococcus acidilactici; 1 × 1010 CFU/g for each bacterial strain) at 2 g/kg on the performances of Siberian sturgeon. The final weight, weight gain, SGR, and PER were markedly enhanced while the FCR was reduced in fish fed multienzyme and probiotics premix (P<0.05). Multi enzymes and probiotic mixture significantly increased the total body protein content (P˃0.05). Multi enzymes and probiotic mixture also improved the digestibility of crude protein, dry matter, and crude lipids nutrients (P<0.05). The count of Goblet cells, microvilli diameter, microvilli length, outer muscle wall diameter, and enterocyte total absorptive surface were markedly increased (P<0.05) by dietary multienzymes and probiotics mixture. The WBCs and neutrophils showed marked improvements (P<0.05). The levels of glucose, triglycerides, blood urea nitrogen, and total bilirubin were markedly higher in fish fed the control than fish fed the multienzymes and probiotics mixture (P<0.05). Significantly, Siberian sturgeon-fed dietary multienzymes and probiotics had improved lysozyme activity, total immunoglobulin, and total protein in the skin mucus and serum samples (P<0.05). Further, the serum complement C3 and C4 was higher in fish-delivered multienzymes and probiotic mixture than in control (P<0.05). In conclusion, dietary probiotics synergistically enhanced the activity of multienzymes and resulted in increased feed utilization, nutrient digestibility, and health status of Siberian sturgeon.

The shortage of fish meal and fish oil provokes the search for alternative sources of these feed components. Insects that are part of the diet of animals, birds and fish, rich in protein and fat, can serve as such an alternative. The article presents the results of testing of compound feed for fish containing the fat of the larvae of the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) and a feed additive with probiotic activity. The use of the fat of the larva of the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) and a probiotic feed additive allows increasing the survival rate of fish from 90 to 95%, increase the conversion of feed and the average daily increase. The calculation of the economic efficiency from the use of compound feed, which includes feed additives of animal origin and additives with probiotic activity, showed an increase in profit when replacing compound feed made according to a standard recipe with compound feed with new feed additives. The economic effect of using compound feed with new feed additives amounted to more than 650 thousand rubles per year on small and medium-sized trout farms up to 20 tons per year.

Use of probiotics in freshwater fishes is debated for its benefits to the host. Tinfoil barb, Barbonymus schwanenfeldii is a tropical fish having ornamental as well as food value. This study was conducted to evaluate effect of Lactobacillus sporogenes on Tinfoil barb. Diets containing 0%(T0), 0.5%(T1), 1%(T2), 1.5%(T3), and 2% (T4) of probiotic L. sporogenes were prepared and fed to fishes at 3% body weight for 80 days. Control diet was fed to fishes of all treatments for 20 more days. Growth parameters, gut microflora and intestinal histology were analysed. The growth performance was found to be significantly better (P < 0.05) in fishes fed with 1% of probiotic but Survival remained unaffected due to the concentration of probiotic. Total Plate Count of aerobes seemed to be affected by concentration and duration of probiotic treatment. However, anaerobic TPC did not show much variation. Histological analysis revealed that in lower level of incorporation (T2-1%) fish have intact mucosal layer with increased absorptive enterocytes and absorptive area of intestinal villi, well organized lamina propria with different types of cells compared to other treatments. The results indicated that addition of L. sporogenes at 1% level of inclusion was found to be effective for better growth, survival, gut flora as well as intestinal morphology in B. schwanenfeldii.
