Abstract:Prosthetic capsule replacement (PCR) is an extra-articular surgical technique for treatment of craniodorsal hip luxation (CHL) in dogs. Three reports have documented short-term outcomes of PCR used to treat CHL in dogs with successful outcomes in 65-67% of cases. Objectives of this study were to describe a modification of the original surgical technique without a greater trochanteric osteotomy or non-weight-bearing sling in dogs with traumatic CHL.
