et al.

Abstract: Here, we present composites and materials that can be prepared starting with boron hydride cluster compounds (decaborane, decahydro-closo-decaborate and dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborate anions and carboranes). Recent examples of their utilization as boron protective coatings including using them to synthesize boron carbide, boron nitride, metal borides, metal-containing composites, and neutron shielding materials are discussed. The data are generalized demonstrate the versatile application of materials based on … Show more

“…To enhance their physical and mechanical properties, these alloys are modified with a small amount of boron [8][9][10], which is a structure-modifying impurity in the intermetallic compound. For example, materials based on Ti-43Al-6Nb-1Mo-1Cr-(0, 0.6)B were manufactured [11], and it was observed that the addition of boron, along with a multi-stage forging process, improves the microstructure and significantly increases the ultimate tensile strength of alloys.…”

“…Carboranes are a class of carbon–boron molecular clusters with three-dimensional aromaticity, which have been a kind of important building block in functional materials, 1 key frameworks in boron neutron capture therapy agents, 2 and ligands in organometallic as well as coordination chemistry. 3 Therefore, developing methods for selective functionalization of the B–H bond of o -carboranes has drawn more and more interest from chemists and achieved much advancement in recent years.…”
